The FireAngel WST-630T is a battery powered wireless smoke alarm from FireAngel's Wi-Safe 2 range. Its built-in 868 MHz radio interlinks it with up to 50 Wi-Safe 2 smoke, heat and CO alarms and accessories, including mixed systems of mains and battery powered units, so a fire detected in one room sets off every alarm in the network - with no cable runs between rooms. Detection uses FireAngel's Thermoptek multi-sensor, which combines optical smoke sensing with thermal enhancement: if a rapid rise in temperature is detected, sensitivity increases, giving a fast response to both slow smouldering and fast flaming fires. It suits landings, hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms, and is also suitable for mobile homes and caravans. Kitchens should be covered by a Wi-Safe 2 heat alarm. Power comes from a sealed-for-life 10 year Panasonic lithium battery that switches on automatically when the alarm is twisted onto its base plate. A red LED flashes every 45 seconds to show it is active. The large central button handles the weekly test, Smart Silence (hushes a known false alarm for up to 10 minutes) and Locate (silences every alarm except the one that detected smoke). An optional locking base plate helps prevent tampering or removal.
